Of course you can control the throttle!!! Use the + - buttons on the keyboard keypad!

Hey, I'm absolutely new to all of this but want to get into it. I loved many of these games growing up and would love to play them again. However, I have no idea where to even get started. I've looked around but can't seem to find anything that can get me started. Are there any tutorials or how to guides floating around that might help me get my feet on the path? Thanks.

In the SW.BAT file change the 'N' to a 'Y' for joystick.
Game will start with calibration. Sadly no throttle control in the game.
Guess I used the keyboard mapping in my thrustmaster flight controller to accept the throttle. Maybe it is time to make a USB interface for that great stick to bring it back from the dust bin.

This is the CD version of the game, that includes the four plane expansions.

Would be cool if someone made a game based on this mechanic these days.

I was wondering why a 2MB game was put on a CD, then I noticed it's from LucasFilm. These people put thing on CDs just because they could.

I think the joystick just needs to be plugged in before the game starts and when it opens it should prompt you to calibrate. If it doesn't, get to the the main menu of one fraction and press ctrl z. I think that's the calibrate joystick button, if not, download the manual and it'll for sure be there

I feel when i run this locally or emulated it does not quite run how I remember. Its a bit clunky. Should I speed it up or slow it down in dosbox? Thanks for the help!

This is still my favorite fligh/strategy game. Apart from individual missions , you could plan the entire global air campaign from 1943-1945 from either the German or Allied side. Research & development facilities, Jets fightersV2s. There still isn't a flight sim/strategy combo as good as this game.

I spent so much time on this back in the day. The best was the strategic mode where you could plan missions and then fly in them. There were even mods for it. People could create new campaigns and storylines. Epic for the times.

This works fine in DosBox but the INSTALL file is missing and it is the only way to setup and activate the joystick. I just copied the install file over from another version and it worked fine. It doesn't install anything, just sets the options.
