lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag Large 2L Review | Pack Hacker (2024)

The lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag comes in many flavors, and in this review, we’ll be taking a look at its 2-liter version, the aptly named Everywhere Belt Bag Large 2L. Whereas the regular Everywhere Belt Bag and Mini Belt Bag feel more like extensions of your pants pockets, this larger version feels more like a standalone, full-fledged sling/waist pack.

That said, it doesn’t break the mold when it comes to features. It still has a simple strap design, no-nonsense styling, and basic yet sufficient internal organization. What makes the 2-liter version stand out is how much bigger it is, and that has benefits in terms of convenience. Hint: it’s not just about fitting more gear.

External Components

Okay, so to anyone who’s already seen our review of the Everywhere Belt Bag, the large 2-liter version will look very familiar. Indeed, why mess with a winning formula within the same lineup? It’s a simple one: black nylon fabric that’s decently thick, giving the Everywhere Belt Bag Large 2L enough structure even with its larger size. Then there are the zippers from YKK, a brand we find synonymous with reliability for that type of fastener. Meanwhile, the interior liner and mesh are 100% recycled polyester—so far, so standard.

Styling-wise, the Everywhere Belt Bag Large 2L won’t turn heads with an eye-catching design and colorways. No, lowkey blacked-out stealthy is the name of the game here, with the only exceptions being the chromed lululemon logo and zipper pulls. Do we like it? Yup, they add a touch of classiness that’s not as overly blingy as other brands.

If we’re really being honest, the metal zipper pulls may look classy, but they’re pretty distracting on the go. Given this bag’s larger size, it’s much more prone to jiggling, and that also extends to the zipper pulls. They make audible jingling noises as you walk around, which may not be a problem on the noisy streets of New York, but probably a bit noticeable once you’re in the New York Public Library.

The overall shape is the typical rectangle, though you’ll notice it has a slightly triangular profile from the side. This gives the Everywhere Belt Bag Large 2L enough of a base to let it stand on its own. Why is this important? Well, it’s convenient when you want to use it as a standing desk pouch that doesn’t take up too much precious space. And if you’ve ever been to a downtown coffee shop, which is where we usually take these slings, you’ll know how relatable that is.

Like the rest of the Everywhere Belt Bag Large 2L, the main strap is simple but effective. The strap itself is a soft seat belt-like material that is fairly wide and thick. That latter characteristic may dissuade some because it can create the impression of roughness on the skin despite the smooth texture of the strap. We’ll dive deeper into how the whole bag fits and how comfortable it is to wear in the next section.

A large buckle situated near the left wingtip handles quick release. Its size affects comfort, but it also feels very secure once it’s locked in. Last but not least are the two built-in strap keepers, and we appreciate them since the slack can get pretty long depending on how tightly you adjust the strap.

Fit Notes

We prefer to wear the Everywhere Belt Bag Large 2L in crossbody sling style. In this mode, there are generally two things you need to balance. See, the pack tends to sag low towards the side. At the same time, though, we struggle to position the large buckle. Adjust the pack too high, and the buckle can hit the collarbone. Adjust it too loosely, and it can end up somewhere around the bust area—neither of which is particularly comfortable.

Switching to waist pack mode from crossbody sling is as easy as lowering the strap to your waist and cinching it down. This is arguably the more comfortable way to wear the Everywhere Belt Bag Large 2L, which makes sense, given its name. A large part of that is thanks to the hip-hugging wingtips extending from the sides of the pack.

Inside The Sling

The Everywhere Belt Bag Large 2L has a simple zippered back pocket. It’s wide and deep enough to fit an iPhone 13 with a case, and it’s a good stash pocket for that since it’s fairly easy to access. Keep in mind that anything too bulky will jut out since there’s no frame sheet to shield you. In other words, we advise limiting the gear you stash here to flat items like travel documents, a minimalist wallet, or the aforementioned smartphone.

The main compartment has a dual zipper opening that lets you position the pair anywhere you want along the track. More importantly, the opening is in a wide horseshoe shape, giving you a wide view of what’s inside. That’s quite necessary for the Everywhere Belt Bag Large 2L since the interior is all-black, and it’s much roomier here than its smaller siblings.

The layout is kept simple, with two mesh pockets at the front and a mesh pocket at the back. The rear mesh pocket is big enough for a Ugreen Nexode 65W USB C Wall Charger and a 13-inch MacBook’s USB-C charging cable. We would throw in an Apple Magic Mouse and a set of AirPods in the front mesh pockets, as well. And yes, we were testing this as a part-time tech pouch since there’s just enough organization here for a minimalist-to-modest set of tech accessories.

In more day-to-day use, though, those front pockets would contain a small wallet and a stick of lip balm (okay, we’d also keep the AirPods because listening to music is important to us, too). The biggest pro of this larger 2-liter version versus the smaller ones is the ease of packing. The smaller ones can fit a set of keys, but their cramped interiors meant we would sometimes mistakenly put them in one of the mesh pockets instead of the open space in the middle.

That’s not an issue with this 2-liter version. To put it simply, there’s just more margin for error, more allowance, more room to maneuver gear. And for those who aren’t quite committed to the minimalist lifestyle yet, it’s a safer bet than its smaller siblings.
